Clash Erupts Again on Cambodian-Thai Border

Thai media reported that another small-scale exchange of fire occurred on the Cambodian-Thai border this morning (February 24). According to initial reports, there were no Thai casualties.

Royal Thai Army Spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suvaree reported that at approximately 8:50 AM today, while Thai troops were conducting a routine patrol in the Phan Hin Phak Phong area along the border in Sisaket Province, Cambodian forces fired a 40mm grenade into the vicinity of the Thai patrol. Colonel Winthai stated that in response, the Thai military returned fire with an M79 grenade launcher towards the origin of the incoming round in accordance with engagement procedures, as a warning and act of self-defense. Additionally, the Royal Thai Army has enhanced close monitoring of the situation to ensure the safety of personnel and the area.

The Army spokesperson stated that Cambodia’s action violates the joint statement on the ceasefire agreement signed by both parties on December 27, 2025. Preliminary assessments suggest the incident may be related to troop rotations on the Cambodian side. Newly deployed personnel might be unfamiliar with regulations and operational procedures, potentially leading to an operational error. As of now, there has been no statement from the Cambodian side.
